Botulinum Toxin is a treatment that is suitable for the softening of fine lines and wrinkles, and to aid long-term prevention of developing these. It is the most requested cosmetic procedure in the world today.
Fine lines and wrinkles often form due to repetitive facial expressions over time – think frown lines, crow's feet, and forehead creases. Anti-wrinkle injectables work by gently relaxing the specific muscles responsible for these dynamic wrinkles. This temporary relaxation smooths out the skin above, reducing the appearance of existing lines and helping to prevent new ones from forming.
The results can take 2-10 days and last for 3-4 months. Some areas like masseters, body treatments can last up to 6 months.
Makeup can be applied starting the day after the procedure. For 2-3 days after the procedure, avoid sweat-inducing exercise, saunas, and swimming pools. Minor bruising may occur but typically resolves within a week.
The effects of Botox typically last 3–4 months, though this may vary. Body and masseter Botox may last 6 months. Effects generally appear within 2–10 days. For muscle-related treatments (e.g., jawline, calves) effects typically appear within 2–3 weeks. For masseter Botox, avoid chewing hard or tough foods (e.g., gum, squid) as this may shorten the duration of the effects.
BOTOX® is a prescription medicine containing 100 units of clostridium botulinium type A toxin complex for injection.
